The Core Technology: Vibrating Mesh

The MistPro uses vibrating mesh technology — also called piezoelectric mesh nebulization. Here’s the step-by-step process:
  1. Liquid medication is placed in the medication cup (typically 2–8ml of nebulizer solution, saline, or prescribed liquid medication)
  2. A thin metal mesh with thousands of micro-apertures (holes) is positioned at the base of the medication cup
  3. A piezoelectric transducer (a crystal that vibrates when electrical current is applied) vibrates the mesh at ultrasonic frequencies
  4. Liquid is forced through the mesh holes by the high-frequency vibration
  5. Each hole produces an ultra-fine droplet — 1–5 microns in diameter
  6. The mist is inhaled through the attached mouthpiece or mask

Why Particle Size Is Everything

The therapeutic value of inhaled medication depends almost entirely on where in the respiratory tract the particles deposit:
Particle SizeDeposition SiteTherapeutic Use
>10 micronsMouth and upper airwayThroat/nasal treatments
5–10 micronsLarger bronchiUpper respiratory infections
1–5 micronsSmall airways and alveoliAsthma, COPD, deep lung treatment
<1 micronOften exhaled without depositingLimited clinical value
The MistPro’s vibrating mesh produces particles predominantly in the 1–5 micron range — the optimal size for penetrating into the small airways and alveoli where bronchodilators, corticosteroids, and anti-inflammatory medications need to reach.

Comparison to Jet Nebulizer Technology

Traditional jet nebulizers use compressed air to shatter liquid into droplets:

One-Button Operation

The MistPro requires no setup configuration. The single button:
  1. First press: Powers on and begins nebulization
  2. Hold or second press: Powers off
There are no speed settings, timers, or mode selections. The device operates at its optimal nebulization rate from the moment it’s switched on.

Battery and Recharging

The MistPro’s rechargeable battery is charged via USB. Once charged, the battery provides sufficient power for multiple treatment sessions before needing recharge. The device does not need to be plugged in during treatment, enabling use in bed, on the couch, in a car, or while traveling.

The Treatment Process

A typical MistPro treatment session:
  1. Wash hands
  2. Fill the medication cup with prescribed nebulizer solution (or sterile saline)
  3. Attach the appropriate mask (child or adult) or mouthpiece
  4. Press the power button once
  5. Hold the device upright and breathe normally through the mask/mouthpiece
  6. Continue until medication cup is empty (typically 5–10 minutes)
  7. Turn off device
  8. Disassemble and clean per cleaning guide
