MistPro Cleaning and Maintenance Guide
Proper cleaning of the MistPro is essential for hygiene, preventing infection, and maintaining device performance. The mesh component is the critical element — a clogged or contaminated mesh reduces nebulization efficiency. After Every Use
Step 1: Disassemble
Remove:- Mask or mouthpiece from medication cup
- Medication cup from device body
- Any remaining liquid from the cup
Step 2: Rinse
Rinse all detachable components (medication cup, mask) with warm, clean water immediately after use to prevent medication residue from drying and clogging the mesh. Do not immerse the main device body (containing the electronic components and battery) in water.Step 3: Air Dry
Place all rinsed components on a clean, lint-free towel or drying rack. Allow to air dry completely before reassembly or storage.Step 4: Wipe Device Body
Wipe the external surface of the device body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the mesh surface.Weekly Disinfection (or After Each Use if Shared)
For households with multiple users, or for immunocompromised patients, perform the following after every use:Method A: Soap and Water
- Disassemble all components
- Wash medication cup, mask, and mouthpiece with mild dish soap and warm water
- Rinse thoroughly — soap residue in the cup can affect medication pH and mesh performance
- Air dry completely on a clean surface
Method B: Diluted Vinegar Soak
- Mix a 1:1 solution of white vinegar and distilled water
- Soak all washable components for 30 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water
- Air dry completely
Method C: Disinfectant Wipes (Masks Only)
For the face mask contact surfaces, alcohol-based medical wipes can be used for quick disinfection between users. Allow to air dry before use.Mesh Care: The Most Important Component
The vibrating mesh is the precision component of the MistPro. Proper care extends its life and maintains treatment efficiency: Do:- Rinse the medication cup (which houses the mesh) immediately after every use
- Use distilled water rather than tap water if your area has hard water (prevents mineral deposits)
- Store with the medication cup empty and dry
- Insert any object into the mesh holes (pins, cotton swabs, brushes)
- Use harsh chemical cleaners (bleach, acetone, alcohol directly on mesh)
- Allow the cup to sit with residual medication in it for extended periods
- Subject the mesh side to hard water without cleaning — mineral buildup reduces mesh efficiency
Removing Mineral Deposits
If the mesh develops reduced mist output (often due to hard water mineral buildup):- Fill medication cup with a 1:1 white vinegar/distilled water solution
- Run the device for 1–2 minutes to force solution through the mesh
- Follow with a plain water rinse run
- Allow to dry completely
Storage
- Store the MistPro in a clean, dry location — a case or sealed bag prevents dust accumulation on the mesh
- Do not store with any liquid in the medication cup
- Store at room temperature — avoid extreme heat, cold, or humidity
- Keep the device away from direct sunlight for extended periods
When to Replace Components
| Component | Replace When |
|---|---|
| Face mask | Visible deterioration, cracking, or if hygienic concerns arise after illness |
| Medication cup | Discoloration, cracks, or persistent mesh clogging that doesn’t resolve |
| Device body | If device fails to produce adequate mist after proper cleaning |
