# Zeolite vs. NAC and Glutathione — Binder vs. Antioxidant Detox Support

> How clinoptilolite zeolite differs from NAC and glutathione for detox support: a gut-level binder versus antioxidants the body uses inside cells, and where each fits.

Zeolite and NAC/glutathione get lumped together as "detox," but they work in completely different places: **micronized clinoptilolite zeolite** is a **gut-level binder** that acts in the digestive tract, while **NAC and glutathione** are **antioxidant compounds the body uses inside cells**. They aren't interchangeable, and neither one "removes toxins" on its own.

<Note>
  Educational comparison, not medical advice. Neither zeolite nor NAC/glutathione is a treatment for heavy-metal toxicity, mold illness, or any disease. If you have a specific health concern, see a clinician. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

## How each one works

**Clinoptilolite zeolite** has a porous, negatively charged structure that traps certain positively charged compounds inside its cavities in the digestive tract, so they can leave in stool rather than being reabsorbed. It works at the **gut level** and isn't meaningfully absorbed into the bloodstream — this is the binder in [Plastiq Off](/plastiq-off/overview). It's a *binder*, not a *chelator*; see [binder vs. chelator](/plastiq-off/binder-vs-chelator).

**NAC (N-acetylcysteine)** is an amino-acid compound the body can use to help make **glutathione**, an antioxidant your cells produce naturally. Rather than binding material in the gut, these support the body's **internal antioxidant** systems. Marketing sometimes calls both "detox," but they target very different steps — one in the gut, one inside your cells.

## Can you take them together?

There's no known harmful interaction between a gut-level zeolite binder and antioxidant supplements like NAC or glutathione — many people use them for different reasons. Because binders can affect absorption, space zeolite at least **2 hours** from other supplements and medications, and confirm any combination with your clinician or pharmacist, especially if you take prescription medication. See [how to take Plastiq Off](/plastiq-off/how-to-take-plastiq-off).

## Which is right for you?

* Want **gentle daily gut-level support** (plus B12 for everyday energy)? A zeolite formula like Plastiq Off fits.
* Specifically interested in **cellular antioxidant support**? NAC/glutathione target that goal — discuss with your clinician.
* Worried about a real toxicity problem? Neither is a treatment — **see a clinician first** for testing and care. See [do detox binders actually work?](/plastiq-off/do-detox-binders-work) for an honest look at the evidence.

## Where Plastiq Off fits

[Plastiq Off](/plastiq-off/overview) uses **micronized clinoptilolite zeolite** (100 mg per 2 mL serving) for gentle daily detox-pathway support and adds **200 mcg active B12 (methylcobalamin)** for everyday energy — a gut-level approach, not a cellular antioxidant. It supports the body's own natural detoxification pathways and is not a treatment for any disease.
