# Micronized vs. Nano Zeolite: What the Terms Really Mean

> A plain-language look at micronized clinoptilolite versus 'nano,' 'activated,' and 'cellular' zeolite marketing — how they differ, what the evidence supports, and how to choose.

Micronized zeolite means clinoptilolite ground into fine particles that work as a **gut-level binder** in the digestive tract, while "nano," "activated," and "cellular" zeolite are marketing terms implying tiny particles absorbed into the body — a claim with **limited human evidence**. Plastiq Off uses micronized clinoptilolite and describes its role honestly: supporting your body's natural detoxification pathways in the gut.

<Note>
Educational content, not medical advice. No zeolite — micronized or "nano" — is proven to remove microplastics, heavy metals, or toxins from your blood or organs. Be skeptical of any product that promises this. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

## The terms, decoded

| Term | What it usually means | What to keep in mind |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Micronized zeolite** | Clinoptilolite milled into fine particles | Works as a gut-level binder; the best-studied use |
| **"Nano" zeolite** | Marketed as sub-micron particles | Claims of systemic (bloodstream) absorption are not well established in humans |
| **"Activated" zeolite** | Cleaned/processed for purity | Processing quality matters more than the label; ask for testing |
| **"Cellular" zeolite** | Marketing language, not a standard | No agreed scientific definition — judge by sourcing and testing, not the word |

## Does zeolite get absorbed into the body?

Human research on clinoptilolite generally describes it acting **in the gut**, where it can bind substances that are then eliminated normally — not being absorbed intact into the bloodstream to "hunt" toxins. That's why credible products use **structure/function** language ("supports natural detox pathways") rather than removal claims. For the evidence, see [do detox binders actually work?](/plastiq-off/do-detox-binders-work)

## Why "nano" claims deserve caution

Smaller isn't automatically better or safer. Claims that a "nano" or "cellular" zeolite is absorbed and pulls toxins from tissues go beyond what human studies support, and regulators have warned zeolite sellers about exactly these kinds of removal and disease claims. A well-milled, well-tested **micronized clinoptilolite** is a sensible, honest choice.

## How to choose

1. **Prioritize testing over buzzwords.** Ask any brand for a current certificate of analysis, especially for lead and heavy metals. See [is zeolite safe?](/plastiq-off/is-zeolite-safe)
2. **Favor disclosed sourcing.** Plastiq Off's zeolite is **micronized clinoptilolite, made in the USA**, produced in an FDA-registered cGMP facility.
3. **Read the claims.** "Supports the body's natural detoxification pathways" is the green flag; "removes toxins/heavy metals" is the red flag.
4. **Pick a routine you'll keep.** A daily liquid dropper is easy to use consistently — see [how to take Plastiq Off](/plastiq-off/how-to-take-plastiq-off).
