Wildfire smoke carries very fine particles (PM2.5) deep into the lungs, and these particles easily seep indoors. A HEPA air purifier is one of the most effective tools for keeping indoor air breathable during a smoke event. Here's how to use one well. ## Why is wildfire smoke so harmful? Wildfire smoke is dominated by **fine particulate matter (PM2.5)** — particles small enough to reach the deep lung and bloodstream.
